Depends on what your needs are, or how many bells and whistles you want, or how much you care about "mil-spec" blah blah blah. If you just want a nice, simple, quality M4 upper, than the Stag is hard to beat. But certainly there are other choices.

The only real M4 upper is Colt.
That being said, I'd go for a CMT/Stag |

I would get one of the new Bravo Company Mfg uppers. They look great, and are priced VERY competitively, especially considering what you get for the money. If I didn't have an M4 upper already (LMT, which I love) I'd get the Bravo upper. I'm probably going to get rid of my RRA midlength for the Bravo upper.
ETA-I don't think you will find any complaints about Paul (owner of Bravo Co). He provides impecable service. |

+1 for Colt LE 6920 would be the closest to the real M4.
Other brands are also pretty good with no particular ranking order: Bushmaster Bravo Company Mfg. CMMG LMT Sabre Defence Stag Arms/ CMT There are others that I didn't mention.  Don't get Vulcan/ Hesse. |

I like Bushmaster, but I have little expieriance with all the others, but my Bushmaster rifle has never let me down, and is now my go-to rifle. This is comming from an X AK man too.

Perhaps so, BLouie - for the masses. But the masses cannot buy a genuine M4. That would make the only REAL M4, a Colt (Real gun, that is. M4- the name- is OK to call your cat if you like)  But the thread starter asked about 16"ers, which means all bets are off on the name |

What is the going rate for a Colt M4 upper? I thought they were the same price as all the other big name brands. ( I bought mine from a friend for a great price)

You can buy a complete rifle for almost what Colt charges for a complete upper.
