The Colt brand old style telestock (without the ribs) is the lightest stock available for an AR. Followed VERY closely by everyone else's copy of the old style Colt telestock.

Old style Colt plastic telestock is 5 ounces, not including 4-position Mil-Spec tube, spring, buffer, nut and end plate. Everything above, around 14.7 ounces. |

Ace ultralight is the lightest stock around, and that's a fact.

The M608 survival AR had a lighter stock than the CAR, and the wire stock from the older M231 was even lighter than that or the ACE (as is the DPMS copy of it). We've filled the battery tubes of Vltor and LMT with helium, but couldn't tell the difference.

Ah, ok, I know the ultra light... I guess I didnt know the name. The link that was provided says it is 5oz, but that does not include the tube. Someone mentioned the weight of the Colt stock as being 5 oz? I cant imagine the entire unit, reciever extension and all, weighing only 5 oz. Does it?
Either way, if I were looking for a light weight stock, and those two were in fact equal weight, I do believe I'd opt for the Colt and get the adjustable length of pull. |
