Hi, I was wondering if Stag Arms is a good, reputable brand.  How well do stag and RRA uppers and lowers go together?  I'm looking to build an M4gery. I can build a RRA rifle (upper and lower) for $685 or
a Rock River upper w/ a Stag Arms lower for 25 dollars less. What is your guys say?

ETA: Is www.eaglefirearms.net/ a good place to order?

They are both good.  RRA has a tendency to be 'tight' and hard to fit together at first, so for only an extra $25 it would be just as easy to go RRA all the way...

Stag/CMT is top notch stuff but I would go all Stag or all RRA. $25 is nothing.

Stag has a pretty high rating around here, never heard bad about RRA either.

I have been very pleased with my Stag M4. I built the lower and put a Stag factory upper on it.
So far mine has been 100% reliable and prints nice tight groups to boot.

$25 almost fills up my gas tank!

My RRA/LMT wasn't a tight fit like I figured it would be. A tight fit isn't a problem anyway. It will loosen up eventually.

RRA and Stag are both great choices. Get one (or both) and you'll be happy.

Correct, CMT makes them and a few other name brands.

Stag is about as good as you will get.  I have a RRA upper on a Stag Arms lower and it is a very solid fit.  I got both the lower and upper from Eagle.  They will treat you right.

For an M4gery I would go with Stag, as you can get a complet chrome-lined upper with A.R.M.S 40 BUIS for $475 from Aim surplus.  The Stag will come with an E.R. Shaw barrel that has the government proflie under the handgurads.

I went with the RRA myself because I did NOT want an M4 style upper, but wanted the mid-length gas system, which is not available from Stag.

I'd go with an RRA lower (including RRA 2-stage trigger) and Stag upper.  If you like single stage triggers for some reason then go all stag.

I want a mid-length too.

This is VERY good advise.

www.eaglefirearms.net is a GREAT place to buy from.

Why mix and match if you don't have to.  I own both (got my Stag stuff from www.eaglefirearms.net and my Rock River Arms stuff from Steve at www.adcofirearms.com).  You can't go wrong with either.

I would think that RRA would have better resale.

That's either 4 wheels with a small tank, or a motorcycle with a very big one.

I've got a build on a Stag receiver, they are good stuff!  I have had several transactions with Chris at Eagle Firearms, I am only 1 of many satisfied customers, he is a good guy to do business with.

Here's some of their feedback on the EE:  www.ar15.com/forums/topic.html?b=7&f=109&t=190307&page=5
