What was the weight, 1 or 2 piece??

Standard weight, one piece. The only difference between it, and the usual piece seen today, is that the Colt buffers didn't retain the back plug w/a split pin. The plug has small ribs on the shaft and is a tight friction fit. That would be for the XM177E2. Never saw the buffer for the earlier XM177.

Since I haven't seen a Colt buffer made in the last 20 years, I don't know if they still make 'em that way or have gone to the split pin retainer.
