This is the twist rate of the rifling in the barrel. There are other twist rates including 1:9. Hope this helps. I have no idea what the first part of your question is though. |

When someone says 1:7 they mean that the rifling makes 1 complete revolution in 7 inches of barrel length.
The same is true with other numbers. 1:8, 1:9, 1:12, 1:14, etc. The smaller the second number, the tighter (and faster) the twist. WIZZO |

Hokay. Since this is a firearms site most here would recognize the two number groups as the pitch of the rifling in a barrel.

It makes the bullit spin at a different rate
1:7 is better for heavier bullets while 1:12 is better for light bullets. The M16A1 that the US used during the Vietnam war was 1:12 and the one we use now is 1:7 |
