Thought I would share some pics of some family heirlooms. The pictures are  of my SP1 and its twin (consecutive serial numbers) that belongs to my cousin. These were purchased by my father and my cousin's father from Colt thru a Fairbanks Morse branch in 1966 for the discounted price of $214.00 each. Each one has our father's name factory engraved in the lower receiver. Sorry for the photography, its not really a hobby of mine

I agree.  This is wonderful and I know you both must really be proud to have them.

Wow, those guns bring back memorys.  I bought my 1st AR-15 in 1975 and used one
of those 20" guns with triangle handguards for a lot of years.
Thanks for sharing!

Stickman, This is the first time these 2 rifles have been together (today). I think you may be thinking of a post I made a few weeks back concerning the Colt Archive letter describing these SP1's.

I believe he posted a thread after Colt authenticated the engraving as being factory done. Very nice rifles. They should be a treasure for generations in your family.

That engraving was done at the Colt factory 39 years ago. Engraving anything else on it now would be ludicrous.
