They were developing the belt fed Shrike upper. They took deposits and failed to deliver or manufacter it after several years. |

well nevermind then........... I was thinking about maybe developing one. I am currently looking at different designs and setups on different rifles seeing if I can duplicate it......... but I dont know why, the gas system on any of my rifles has never actually failed me yet. "Then why?" you ask.......because???......????......?????.......??????........ ummmmmm........... bored maybe?

I think they are still taking deposits and promising production if anyone still wants to hop on the Shrike bandwagon.  They had the gall to show up at Shot Show, IIRC.

donovan007007- if this hasn't been specifically states- Ares took money for deposits on a belt fed AR upper called "The Shrike" It has been many years and only a few industry insider types have received their Shrikes. There is little confidence in Ares anymore.
There are some companies that sell piston uppers, I think LietnerWise has theirs on the market and I think POF-USA does or is about to. There are some others floating around. Personally I think you are correct in thinking that it is an answer to a question that no one asked. |

Actually ARES had the piston upper at this years Shot show. There was a link to photos Ed A. took at Shot Show of the piston upper on the Home Page of AR15.com, but the link no longer works. If memory serves me correct, it uses a long stroke piston. Now just because they had one at Shot Shows doesn't mean sh*t. |

Did you notice the disclaimer right after the article? That was hysterical... If I remember it was on the opposing page at the end of the article... I haven't notice a disclaimer on other stories I have read in their rag. It felt like they were trying to convey, "I know what your think... We don't buy this crap either... However, they paid us well to do the article."
