I decided to try the crayon method of filling in lower marks.

I think it turned out great.

Opposite side selector markings as well

How long will that last when the gun heats up?

Probably "dear" instead of "deer" in the subject line.

In my not so humble opinion the spelling nazis need to get a fucking life and get laid or something. Life's too short for them to be getting their collective panties into a wad over a freaking typo

They were probably toilet trained at gunpoint, and to this day gaze lovingly into the toilet before they flush.

BTW: Nice job on the deer head.

I like the fire/safe job, but what color is the dear head?

I've done it on pistols.  It stays where it's at even through cleaning. I've never had to reapply it.

Do you know how to get rid of it? From maybe a botched fill in job or wrong color choice?
I was just wondering.

just bake the lower filled side down in an oven with some parchment, it comes out

solvents will get it, albeit after some serious scrubbing.

That scrubbing may well mar the surface, but I haven't seen or heard any examples of this

here is a "How-to on White Lettering Firearms that recommends china markers, but I think they and crayons are essentially the same or similar

that site requires you to accept disclaimer, then proceed to 5 part process (IIRC)

Now go to Cabela's and get the NCL jersey. Okay I know its not really a Stag, but its close. (the one on the right)

I did it to both my Stags and they have both held up remarkably well. No running and I've gotten those guns pretty damn  hot. The lower typically does not get that hot except up towards the magwell area and even then its not enough to do damage to the crayon filling. If you want to get it out use a heat gun and it will blow it right out then you wipe it away, no harm no foul. also the great thing about the crayon method is it does not stain the guns finish like paint can do.
