triggers are usually their weakpoint...
I like the look of most bullpups and the concept of a shorter firearm without sacrificing barrel length is a great concept. But it all goes down hill when it comes to the triggers and their mechanisms, in general. LB |

I put the AKU-94 conversion kit on an ak variant and made it into a bullpup.
It looked real cool, but I noticed how unbalanced it was when I took it deer hunting. I ended up selling it because it was awkward to carry. |

Non adjustbale length of pull. Most cant be shot left handed when rounding corners. No way to FF the barrel. Poor triggers. Slow mag changes. Bushmaster puts the sights/optic too high relative to bore.
Pros are more compact rifle with same barrel length, better balance byu shifting weight rearward instead of being nose heavy and... well thats it. |

Buy a carbine. Bullpups generally are not that good for most people.

Bull pups,poor ergonomics,slow to reload....AR15 fastest reload...ill stick with that.

Civvy version looks different but still encouraging. I recall the F2000 as being lefty friendly since it ejects rounds out the bottom. Or is that the P90 I'm thinking?

p90 ejects down. f2000 pushes spent cases down a tube paralle to the barrel and they fall out from the front left hand side of the gun. interesting concept but it makes me think that it will cause all sorts of problems.
but both systems are completely lefty friendly. |

I have a old mini 14 that I would like to make in to a bullpup for fun. Are there any othe manufactures of stocks other then Muzzelite? They look to boxie for me.

I made my Mini-14 into a bullpup. Muzzelite is the only one...stay away, the trigger assy is really weak. It's basically a plastic extension that pushes on your stock trigger...all that plastic warps, bends, and "gives" each time you pull the trigger. To clean your firearm, you have to take the whole thing apart...It's a real headache. Trust me on this one, it looks kinda cool...but is useless at the range. |

Friend of mine has an M17S he lets me shoot when we go to he range. It's interesting to shoot, but not a something I would take into battle or even use for home defense. Very finicky about mags/ammo, standard sights suck, and if you want to accessorize you have to send it to KKF.
If I was going to get a Bullpup, I would Pony up the extra cash and pre-order a PS90, FS2000 or Tavor if they ever allow them to be imported or cloned. The M17S was a nice idea, but seems like they really never developed it to its potential. |

Is there a schematic somewhere illustrating how the P90 magazine rotates and chambers rounds 90 degrees and down? Very unorthodox design if you ask me, which you didn't.

Isnt that system used to eject spent rounds on the Bradley fighting vehicle? Why would it cause problems? I dont think any testing backs up your idea. |

The channel the rounds follow looks like the circular down ramp at a parking garage. Its a curved ramp that rotates smoothly 90 degrees as its descending. Its part of the magazine body. There are no moving parts. No different than rounds going around in a drum mag instead of straight up really. THis design allows both no hanging magazine to keep the wepon compact and the downward ejection. Both are what make the P90 the best at what it does. |

That is the biggest knock on Bullpup rifles. However not all bullpups are the same. Just like a AR, AK HK and FAL are not all the same. The Bushmaster M17 is a bullpup that does have bad ergos and has slow mag changes. The same can not be said about the Steyr AUG. I have two AUGs and just like with any rifle if you shoot it and practice with you can have very quick mag changes. As for ergonomics IMO the AUG has great balance and ergos. The AUG feels very natural unlike the Bushmaster M17 to me. |

I had no problem with the Bushmaster bullpup in terms of handling. The iron sights on the other hand.. Well, that's its weak point.

I once shot a steyr aug. I swear the trigger pull was at least 20 pounds.
 Are all bull pups like this?

The bullpup makers that have some type of plate.shielding are definitely the way to go. I personally like them (Aug mostly) and think some are nice concepts but he effort was not put into them. Even without the ability to switch to left hand on some, the compactness with a standard barrel lenght make getting into and out of vehicles nice, along with the searching of compact dwellings.

The parking garage analogy is right on about the P90 magazines. I do beleive he left out that the follower is comprised of the standard follower and two dummy rounds. The two dummy rounds spin into the downward spiral while the actuall follower is stopped by a little ramp that seperates the double stack portion of the magazine from the spiraling single stack feed lip area.

 I didn't like the too tall iron sights, the skinny charging handle, the long barrel length, the lack of a bottom rail, the weight, the lack of a flash hider, the lack of cooling vents, and the fact that the barrel was not threaded. Thanks to Kurt at KKF, I know have the bullpup that I always wanted. And the work was approximately $400. |
