Built a new rifle where I work today and I thought it was pretty nice. I really like the Aimpoint magnifier, especially when used with the new Samson flip mount. I have no real time using it, but from the bit I messed around with this combo,  it's especially versatile. Here's the specs on the gun. I had to take some pics because people were making dibs on buying it as I was putting it together. I dont expect it will last very long...

To answer some of hte questions...

Aimpoint magnifiers arent cheap. You should be able to find them online for about $470-$480. The flip mounts you see there are not cheap either. About $220 for that. As you can see, thats about $700. You can use any 30mm ring that lines up with your Aimpoint for the magnifier, but I swear, I really think this Samson flip mount MAKES the combo. It is really pretty great I think.

If I were to just have an Aimpoint + Magnifier, or a ACOG, I would probably go ACOG. With the BAC, the ACOG does the CQB role nearly, if not as good as the Aimpoint, but the ACOG does the magnification end of the job MUCH better than the Aimpoint + magnifier. Magnified image is clearer, ACOG has a better, much more USEFUL reticle (bullet drop and ranging).

The dots in the Aimpoints are 4moa, or, if you get the new M3's 2moa or 4 moa. The magnifier makes the reticle appear larger, but it is still either 2 or 4 moa (depending on which Aimpoint you go with). People dont seem to understand how thats possibe, but think of it like this. If you are looking at a 6 foot man downrange, and then you look at him with a 3x scope, he doesnt grow to 18 feet. He's still 6 feet. Same for the reticle. If its 4 moa unmagnified, it doesnt grow to 12 moa after the 3x, it just looks bigger (just like your target).

It is not a lightweight gun. Its got a HBAR and with an unloaded mag is in at about 9.5 pounds. It balances just forward of the barrel nut. The Aimpoint + magnifier helps with the balance some.

Good balance point is probably just at or behind the barrel nut.

Thank you for reminding me mongo!!! Yes, I had to slightly round off the corners of the Bushmaster cut down gas block for the bottom of the MRFS to fit. At first it was rubbing very slightly. When I discovered this, I was just going to use a PRI low-pro gas block. But when I saw that only a very little bit was going to have to come off the Bushmaster block, I decided against it. If I can and it doenst hurt the end product, I try to keep the cost down. This helps keep the rifles moving off the shelf and gives the owners more confidence to allow me the freedom to order and build what I like. Plus, there's a ton more stuff in the shop for people to add to the gun if they choose once they buy it. Most times the gun moves as is, but everyone knows if they like the gun but want to change something here or there, Im glad to do it. The most common change is the furniture. I'll build a gun but the consumer is worried about green or tan furniture. They OFTEN ask for it to be changed to black.
