What targets do you guys use for this task? Was there a link somwhere around here with instructions? Thanks again

Have you tried the Birchwood Casey Shoot N See 8" targets?  They'll change colors when hit so it's a heck of a lot easier to see through a spotting scope.  You can get them in a 12 pack for about $8.00 at places like Bass Pro Shops:

Well Im just trying to sight in my Irons.. What kind of scope is that ? It looks really good,,,

Go to The Maryland AR15 Shooter's Site.  They should have military zero targets for the M16 and M4 in the "Documents" section.

when i go to the local range to sight in, they have target paper with a grid on it that helps you sight in.

I used the M16A2/A1 zero targets and I got yelled at by the Range Officers for using silhouette targets.

They only allow circle targets so I started making my own.

I found that a dark target makes it harder to verify POI using a scope at longer ranges because sometimes the holes that the bullets make appear dark and blend in. Of course sometimes the papers flare up at the impact hole so its easy to see.

What I did was make it gray for scope targets and black for iron sights. The gray targets are extremely easy to use with scopes because you can easily confirm points of impact.

The black targets obviously help with iron sights.

I'm too cheap to buy manufactured targets.

The old school shooters that I work with use paper plates and they use a sharpie marker to mark a 2" dot.

I see but I thought some targets will instruct you how to adjust sights?
