I'm looking to replace my 18" moly barrel to go prairie dog killin. Was thinking of calling Armalite and paying 225.00 for their 24" stainless. Whata ya think?

I think you are crazy to go to a 24" barrel on an AR....

for dog killing - that would be perfect,  My 24 inch guns shoot nice tight groups.   You can always buy another AR with a std barrel for your every day type shooting

wanna buy a 24" bushmaster 1:9 standard barrel with a standard FS?

I hardly ever shoot it - prefer carbines now.

I just figured I could switch back and forth for when I'm either ARing or Dog killin @ 300 yards.......

LL,

Sorry, I thought you were just swapping barrels.  I missed the part about it being an extra upper...  My bad!!

You really only need a 20". The gain by going to 24" is marginal at best. Besides, your 18" barrel should easily be able to accurately reach out to 300 yards provided it's free floated and you're using the right ammo.

Well I got stupid and bought an entire upper from Armalite (U15AR4T). Maby I can reach out and touch some Insurgent Dogs. Should class up my American Arms 15M4.........
