Well it looks like a DPMS Kitty Cat with a Thumbhole stock, 4 rail foreend freefloat, and a Beta mag not sure on the sight.
The optik is an ELCAN. ETA: I don't watch Star-Gate. IT'S ON TV |
It looks like they took the YHM LightWeight and chopped it down, unless they make one that short.
Good eyes. Looks that way to me also. Had trouble finding the gun in all that blond. |
Doesn't look like it sleeves over the flattop so I don't think it's a predator. May be a FIRSH. Hard to tell in that shot. One thing that's easy to tell, that sure is a stupid looking stock.. They have P90s but they have to have thumbhole stocks on their AR's
Maybe el General MacGuyver like, wrote a law...
"All butts must have a hole big enough for my thumb. This includes butt stocks." |
Upon further review, the forearm looks like a Carbine length YHM Lightweight 4 Rail with a custom insert on the front of the tube.
The stock looks like a Sully stock, or one of those entry stocks. And it appears that there is a Guiles Sling mounted to the rifle. I wonder how reliable the Beta mags are proving on the show? |
As an owner and user of the Sully Stock I can assure that abomination is NO Sully Stock nor it is an entry stock. It is a cut down thumbhole stock (yes they made/make thumbhole stocks for the AR-15). |
That thing wouldn't have much velocity behind it with a barrel that short.
Why couldnt they just do something cool, and make that in a caliber like 10mm or hell even 40SW? That would be a SWEET setup. And by sweet, I mean totally cool.

for a while, an episode or two, they could not get blanks for the P90s due to the manufacturer switching all production into making ammo for the Iraq War. So, since they were low on blanks, the production company handed out 5.56 weapons for the actors to use.
They don't use the energy weapons because they can be much more accurate and deadly with the human weapons. They actually addressed that in a show where they demonstrated the range of the P90 versus the Energy Staff. |

OK, I've looked at the pictures for about 30 minutes now and I still don't see a gun.
My question is what type of loser would look at Amanda Tapping and care about what type of gun she's holding. The only thing I think about is hitting it and posting pics. |
Well, I got SLAMMED at Gun Stock by one of our more amicable members for not watching Star Gate. And of all the things I'd call her... loser aint even on the list |
Maybe they did that to the stock to make them look more like P90's to the average viewer (read NON arfcommer) I have to say, with a barrel that short I'm not sure a P90 wouldn't be just as good. At least you could carry a higher number of ineffective rounds..lol.
Oh yeah..and I wonder if she would model my guns for me?? |
I really want one of those, the rifle isnt that bad either. A shorty like that with 77gr OTM and a beta probably wouldnt be all that bad. Personally facing down a bunch of BG's with no other troops supporting me I'd probably have went with an M60. (never fired a 240 so that's out!)
you know which episode that was? i'm a SG-1 fan and i don't know what your talking about |
Wunder if she gets enough yaw at 300-400 yards with those rounds to reliably kill aliens...
I'm joking, I'm joking. I'd nail it too. |
Looked it up on the SG1 website, its called the Warrior, season 5, episode 518. |
The episode was the "Warrior" from season 5. From the website:Stargate Synopsis : Word has spread throughout Chulak and beyond. A formidable warrior now leads the Jaffa rebellion. Formerly the First Prime to the late Goa'uld Imhotep, his name is Kytano, and already has hundreds of followers. SG-1 visits Kyano's stronghold with the aim of securing an alliance. But O'Neill soon learns that this strategic partnership may well come at a heavy price. |

Imagine my, er, surprise, when I realized this thread really was about about a prop weapon on a f*cking TV show. And it took just over four hours for the term "hitting it" to pop up, no less.
General Forum not taking posts tonight? |
It's the one where Carter demonstates by shooting a swinging log vs the staff weapon. Also where Teal'Q went 1vs1 against that one dude who was the leader of the rebellan at the time, but he was actually a ghoul (sp??) |

I call her Amanda Tap dat Ass. I even got my wife to start calling her that, repitition is the key to learning. |
As addressed earlier, guns just work better Now if the folks on star trek would just learn that, the phasers seem a giant step backwards as a combat arm. I guess guns are just to politically incorrect to go around shooting aliens with. SG-1 has some goofy stuff sometimes, just drink a beer and go with it. Hell If it werent for beer I wouldnt even have posted any of this..... |
