I removed my Mini-Y-Comp from my barrel and ordered a new flash suppressor from Bushmaster. However, I have just realized that the New flash suppressor is not as long as the mini Y comp. I think I am in trouble now because doesnt this barrel need to be 16 inches total including the flash suppressor? What can I do?

If you got an A2, then yes, it will be too short. Any of the phantoms or Izzys should get you to 16 no prob.
I dont think this is a A2 though.... Are you referring to the old A2 Birdcage? This is suppose to be brand spankin new design from Bushmaster..... I think

Can you post a pic, or a link to a pic fom Bushmasters website? |

Here is the link to it..... it says its 2 and 1/4 inch long but its still shorter than the mini y comp. |
Mini y comp measures 2 and 5/8ths. I know its not a huge difference but it might be enough to make it illegal.
That's a Phantom 5C1. It's made by YHM. It will be sufficient to give you 16". BTW you could have save yourself $10 by buying it from ADCO.

Don't forget it must be permanently attached, silver soldered in place.
That's what I was going to say. Unless you perm attach the supressor it doesn't matter one bit how long it is. the bbl length is determined by measuring the inside of the bbl from the bolt face to the end of the permenent part of the bbl. stick a small dowel down there and measure what you have now. If it isn't 16" w/o the brake on there you are already in violation! |
Sorry fellas I guess I should have included that also. I DO plan to silver solder/weld the new suppressor on. But first I want to get the size/length issue tackled first before permanently attaching it on.

i know the laws the law..... but i just think its fuckin ridiculous we are fighting over fractions of an inch to determine if you are commiting a felony or not.
grrrrrrr |
So did Randy Weaver. |

Geez man have you been living on another planet for the last 12 years? There was even a Made-For-TV movie on one of the major networks about his case. |

Go post in the GD area, but don't be surprised if someone jumps you for asking. |

Someone needs to read unintended consequences from cover to cover. That should be a mandatory read before getting posting rights ;-)

He was a seperatist, wacko or a patriot depending on who you ask. The FBI came and wanted to serve a warrant. Gunfight ensued. FBI killed his son and murdered his wife and shot his dog. Only he lived. He was found not guilty in court and let free. There were rumors they shortened his long arm to make a case, that they shot his wife on purpose instead of the guy running in the door, etc etc. Its a very long story but one you should know. It was the Waco before Waco.
You should know about some things on AR15.com Randy Weaver Waco Standoff Maimi Shootout LA Bank Robbery If you dont know about these things pepole will think your weird. Oh yes and Pacino used an FN FNC in Heat... |

Shotgun was..what....5/8" under legal limit? Barrel was 18 inches....but overall lenght was a hair short.
I replaced my Mini-Y barrel with a Closed Phantom barrel. It is a little shorter but nothing to worry about...............enjoy it! Steve |

No, I typed it live as you see it, using a couple of references to pin down the exact dates. But I suppose I *should* save it... -Troy |

Dozens of his neighbors and friends, and eventually others, were on the scene, doing what they could. They're the ones who got ahold of Bo Gritz, who was one of the only people trusted by both parties. But there were hundreds of federal agents and local police & deputies holding the crowd back away from the house, plus the perimeter guards and the hidden, camo'ed sniper teams. This occured in an extremely remote part of northern Idaho, on a mountain with only one practical way in or out. And, it was really the first time something of this nature had occured, and due to the way the media was playing the story, talking mainly about the Marshall who was killed, and how Weaver was a crazy white supremacist (he was a separatist) who had Special Forces training (true), was growing pot (not true), had machine guns (also not true), and had dared to arm even his children. The basic truth was only really known by his friends in the area, and it wasn't until after Vicki was killed and Randy gave himself up that the real story started to come out. A large number of folks in the gun community are much more "awake" to this type of thing now, and especially after Waco, which itself had escalated significantly in force, partially due to expected reactions from gun owners. At Waco, people were kept over a mile away, and the people sieging the house were doing so from inside Bradley fighting vehicles, guarded by helicopters filled with agents with machineguns. Oh, and it should be mentioned that our boy, Horiuchi, was also at Waco, and despite claiming that he didn't fire a shot there, several cartridge casings were found near his assigned position, in his caliber. But the Feds learned things too, and rarely let anything drag on this long. Better to have an "accidental" fire the first day, and not leave anyone else to tell their side of the story. -Troy |

Is it true that Horiuchi got a building named after him at one of the FBI training centers?
