Since I had such a good turnout on my other post, I thought I'd ask another question. How do the materials in upper recievers vary? Are uppers normally forged? I ask because I have an Oly "Plinker". I know the lower is cast, and figure the upper is also cast. How much stress does the upper actually take?

I don't know of any cast uppers, but that doesn't mean there aren't any out there.  The upper receiver is essentially a guide tube for the bolt/carrier and sees very little stress.
