Hey guys,

I need to ask the experts for some help. I need help locating a picture of the AR-10A that Colt was tooling up for. No, I'm not talking about the Hollywood, 1950's version, nor the Netherland's A.I. version.

The AR-10A was is a beefed up version of the AR15 that Colt was tooling up for and at the same time they were tooling up for the AR15. At the last minute, Colt decided to shelve the AR-10A project. So, can anyone help me locate a picture?

I don't think Colt ever bought the patents or the trademarks to the AR10 name.

Fairchild/Armalite's 1950 designs are all that I have ever seen published as they were fielded for military testing.

According to "The Black Rifle" Colt did indeed acquire the rights to the AR10.  Colt reportedly had spent at least $100,000 in AR10 production tooling before they were advised against any further investment in the design.

Yes Colt did get the rights to the AR-10. I have never seen a picture of it. If you find one please post it in the AR-10 section.  Good luck.

Also, in the book (by Sam Pikula) "The Armalite AR-10" the author states the same thing. Quoted on page 89 by George Sullivan, " Just as the first AR-15's were small AR-10's, the AR-10A was a big AR-15".

So, is there anyone that can help with a picture?
