Did Bushmaster  always mark there uppers ahead of the front site base?  I found a Bushmaster Pre-Ban serial # 304** and I can't find any ID on the barrel.  The upper is an A2 HBar with the FK by the rear sight.

Any info would be helpful in determining a fair price for the whole gun.

Thanks,

Kirk-A3

I don't know.  You could call them and ask.

Bushie did NOT mark their barrels before they got their contract to build M4s for the govt. I have a 20 year old heavy target barrel, that I bought directly from them, completely unmarked.  There are forge marks on the front sight base, however; which include a small crown.  The A2 type barrel I got from them 6 months ago has exactly the same crown on the sight base.

While the crown may not guarentee that it's a Bushie, I'd have to say that the absence of the crown would lead me to believe that it's not one.  BTW, on the earlier barrel, the gas tube pin goes right through the middle of the crown, while the later barrel has the thing along side the pin.

Oh yeah, those pre govt. contract era barrels are not chrome lined either.

The FK on the upper, is, I believe, early Bushmaster
