I'm thinking of having my barrell chopped to a 14.5" and getting a phantom permimently attached.  I'd like to see some pics your shortened barrels with flash suppressors to get some idea of what it will look like.

Right now, my AR has a 16" barrell with a big ass Colt compensator on it...it needs to go.

The search feature is a wonderful thing, all the phantom pics you could ever want, just one click away

For comparrison:

Bottom is my Colt LE6920 (16" + Birdcage) on the Top is my Bushy LEM4A3 (14.5" + Phantom 5C2)

I whited out the background so you could get a clearer pic, click on the link below to see a much larger version if needed

I never figured out the uploading photos thing.  If you want I will email you a picture of mine.

This was posted last week, and the week before that if I remember right. Do the search and look in the AR picture thread. You will probably get better results that way to be honest. I usualy always post on reposts but my photo server went down and I have not had the time to transfer all my images yet.

ETA: OK, I moved some images for you... All work was done by ADCO...

Here is the blind pinning and good view of the cut down barrel

Can coneone please tell me what the difference is in a Phantom suppressor and the others?  Liike is there an advantage in a Phantom over the regular kind that comes on a Bushmaster?

Thanks.

Mostly, it's cosmetic.  There are a few different designs.  One of the big differences though, is that some of the older ones were made with a bottom slot.  The newer ones don't have a bottom slot, and that helps to prevent a dust signature when shooting prone.

The phantom can be used as an impact weapon.  It also works for its designed purpose.  XM193 at dusk with a phantom, no perceptible flash.

The Phantom is one of the best flash suppressors on the market.  The Vortex is the other one.  Check out this link: Muzzle Attachments

Oh yes, something to add ...

Just because they're good doesn't mean they're necessary.  The A2 flash suppressor is quite good.  FYI, on a night (midnight and thereabouts) livefire exercise with 0% illum, using PVS-14s, M855 ammo, and M4s, you can only occaisionally see flash from them, and it's not very bright when you do.

Also, I've got a Vortex but haven't yet had the chance to shoot it at night.

It's the Phantom 5C2, it replaced the mini-y comp.

That is the baddest thing I have ever seen, ballistics be damned!

Specs?  What barrel length?  $200 tax stamp here I come!

I agree, that is one wicked little bastard.

I just had my barrel threaded and put a Phantom on it. It looks way more evil now!

My (newbie) suggestion would be: if you're going to have a FS permantly attached...

DON'T put anthying other than a Phantom or Votex on it. My .02

With any luck, and cooperation by the BATF, the phantom will be replaced by a Gem-Tech bi-lock in the next few weeks.

MP906, it is a DPMS (via CMMG) KittyKat® 7.5" bbl. upper on a Colt M16A1 lower.  Waaaay fun to shoot at the indoor range.

Not mine anymore. I sold the upper to a member in WI so I could get one without the phantom in order to install the Gemtech BiLock.

That's the GG&G modular rail system.
