i just picked up a colt SP1  ser # SP1 1192xx    a few questions i own a few a2 rifles   and was wonderin g when this was made  and what the barrel twist may be.  also i paid 750.00 for its 98% doesnt appeared to have been fired much   whats the going rate on these now that the bill has sunset.  any  comments would be welcome   one thing i did notice is that with the flat bottom of the ols style the handguard,  it lays real nice in the palm of your hand  when shooting   thanks  jim   ANYONE HAVE ANY IDEA WHAT YEAR THIS WAS MADE THANKS  JIM

Sounds like a very late 1970's date.  If it is the original barrel it is a 1 in 12 twist.  Also from your description it has the original "beaver tail" hand guards.

I had a "clone" SP1 built from an A2 lower (no slab side) but an A1 upper with the old three prong flash hider and no forward assist.  There is something about the classic look of the SP1 that just screams out....."I'm an AR15 Rifle"

BTW.....Thats a pretty fair price seeing as the no longer make that variant nor well the likely ever again.
