In order to get that sucker torqued down good and tight you are going to need a vise and an action block. It takes a pretty good amount of torque to properly index the flash suppressor when using a crush washer.
ETA: You'll also need a 3/4" open-ended wrench. Make sure it provides you with plenty of leverage. |

I wouldnt worry about it being properly indexed,esspecially on a a semi auto AR15.
Just make sure the solid bottom is at the bottom. You want noticed the differnce. TG

Just screw it on. If a flash hider has a more solid part, put that part toward the bottom. Some people like to ensure any flash will not be directed straight up... so they index the FH so that there are no holes pointing directly up. To each their own.
I like crush washers, they are easy... just snug up, then tighten until you are happy. And you DONT need an action block.... you just need a vise, and some wood blocks or leather, and chuck up on the front sight base.... and tighten away. Dont forget to have it permantently attached by pinning and welding.... or complete welding.... recommended.... |

Thanks for the advice....I don't think that there is too much left on the 5 prong that can be considered solid....Looking at the one I took off I can tell by where the pin is that the old one had the ports facing up....

Oh..I stand corrected I just check on my phantom, and apparently it does need to be indexed....Glad I checked.

Use an A1 and a lockwasher and no problems.

Use action blocks for barrel installation and removal.
For muzzle brakes, flash suppressors, compensators, use Barrel Vise Jaws. Make sure you remove the gas tube in case the barrel slips and rotates. --- IF you used an action block, all that torque is applied to that tiny indexing pin against the soft aluminum slot in the receiver. This may very well result in a canted front sight base. |

I'll probably use a blind set screw, and silver solder it....I also just placed a WTB add for a full 16" threaded barrel so I'll see what kind of replies I get before doing anything.
