What is the best flash hider for 14.5 barrel to make it legal 16"? I would like to heav a 14.5 barrel for my A2 pre-ban. I want something that looks close to what I have on the A2 now. If you guys have any pictures or links let me know or post them. Thanks in advance.

Here's a few Phantoms which, when permanently attached, take a 14.5 inch barrel beyond the minimum required by BATFE. The Vortex accomplishes the same goal of legality and some folks prefer them to the Phantom series. I have and prefer the 4 slot forked Phantom because I don't do much prone shooting with my M4gery. YMMV.

YHM.net has Phantoms

I still don't understand. If I measure my mini y comp it is 2.5" long, from end to lock washer. The bbl is 16.1". So if the y comp is cut off, is the barrel salvaged from underneath the sucker?

Yes. KKF removed my Mini Y and replaced it with a 4 slot forked Phantom perm. attached.

ADCO has a quicker turnaround time, but in fairness to KKF, my M4A3 upper is flawless.

Thanks. Deciding who to send it to will be a tough one.

Another option is to get a Gemtech Bi-Lock installed, then if the mood strikes at a later date you can use a M496D supressor.

Prior to all the M4 madness, I had KKF change a BM 14.5" M4 barrel w/AK brake to one of his own long flash hiders.  Very nice work.

I want it to look as close to the M4 as possible. I also want it to be right on the mark of 16" if at all possible.

We can also permanently attach it to your barrel.

What method do you guys use to permanantly attach  them??

The Phantom 5C2 is the shiz-nit.

Excellent flash hiding properties, low dust signature, compensation, and scary pointy things.

Got ant pictures of any barrels that have these items on them?

Just curious, will they sell just the BiLock to lowly civilians.  I have a weakness for sweet looking muzzle devices, even if I cannot use them for their intended purpose.

KKF makes one called the mil-spec wich is a birdcage the same legnth as the phantom.I dont know how much of a gap it would make but the difference in legnth between a 14.5 and birdcage and legnth legality is 1/8 of an inch so maybe you could have a smith use a 1/8 steel disc same diameter as the barrel and then permanetly attach a regular birdcage.Brownells has the new 5 port phantom/comp from YHM for $21+shipping..the cheapest I have seen yet.

Does KKF have a web site to check these out?

Not to rob the thread but I have a couple questions for ADCO. Your pricing, for $85 Dollars you can take my break off and attach a phantom with the teeth, is the break included in the price? Second I have a bushmaster do I have to add $56? There will be no problem with reliability or accuracy just possible minor scratches? And for additional $67 dollars I can have my front sight tower swapped for a good one with no accuracy problems just minor scratches that I can dub up with a paint pen. Last I know you’re busy but when I call with my credit card we can have a receipt dated for that day?
                                       Thanks for time

I like the Vortex. Three of my personal rifles have them on the end of 14.5 inch barrles. My work rifle has a Phantom on the end of a 14.5 M4 barrel.

Here are some pics.

This barrel started out as a 16 inch LW. I sent it off to KKF and had him cut it to 14.5 and pin the Vortex on it.

C8gery with a Vortex.

Will one of the slip-over car supressors take a 14.5" out to the legal 16" ??

Thanks,
Steve
