I went shooting this afternoon after installing a Tasco red-dot (don't laugh) on a dogleg mount. I'm shooting my 16" CAR at 50 yards, about 85 degrees with a 10-12 MPH wind on my back. I'm using home made sandbags with a home made bench. The Tasco is has a 5 MOA dot. The CAR is Model 1 on a RRA lower and Armalight 10-rd mag. The Ultramax 55 FMJ shot a 5-shot one ragged hole measuring 5/16". Is that good?

Measured another target... 9/16" @ 50 yards, 5-shot. The Remington/UMC 55 gr. FMJ gave about 15/16" & 1 1/8". Winchester/USA 55gr. FMJ was 1 1/8" & 3/4". All @ same set up.

Maybe its defective.  I usually get one .223 hole at 300 yds (5 shot group).  Oh yeah, iron sights.

All kidding aside, I would be pretty happy with your group.

I hope my 6.8SPC Model 1 shoots just as good. I tried my new 10-round 6.8 mag. with the .223 ammo. It fed flawlessly. However, it didn't hold the bolt open. I only tried it once.
