In 1991 I bought a pair of consecutively numbered Colt 6601 A2 HBARs. The cost for the pair with a pile of extras (half dozen decent mags, two good cleaning kits, and ammo) was $1300.

They are still going strong today. I recently hit 14k rounds with one of them, and the other is currently at 13,600(+/-).

One wears a Leupold, a Surefire forend, and a Cherokee cheekpiece. It's my dedicated anti-skunk rifle:

The other wears a 37mm gas gun that is frequently used by my father's PD:

Right after Sept 11, 2001.  Sad day in history .

Sept 11 was the day that I realized that a handgun was "not enough".

I feel much better now with my ARs !!!

I bought mine in '93 during the LA riots. I was living in Milwaukee and there was plenty of shit being talked by the local population of losers. Went out and bought the last AR on the shelf--Colt Sporter II carbine. Still have it but it doesn't get out much anymore--since the '94 AW ban I've added quite a few to my collection.
When I got my AR it was like picking up an old friend. Hadn't shot one since I got out of the Marines in '80 but it seemed like only yesterday at the time. Guess it's like riding a bike.

I'm 24 and bought my first about 2 months ago. FAB-10 lower (PRK), ASA Upper, Wilson 1:9 chrome moly 20" HBAR,  remainder of parts like trigger group, bolt, bolt carrier, etc  are an assorted combination of goodies from ASA and FN (or so I'm told).  I'm very happy with it. Very accurate and no problems whatsoever.

Got a BM "m4a2" type back in Feb of last year.  Was my first rifle, if you ignore the .22 my dad got me when I was little.  If the AWBan goes away, it's getting rebarreled and a proper stock.  (Ha, the AR, not the .22)

If the RF94 group buy ends up too expensive, I'll probably snag a BM or RRA 20" or start collecting parts for a SPR-style AR.  I've been distracted by other pretty guns, but I think it's time to come back to my roots.  Gotta love them ARs!

Early 1982.  Colt SP-1.  Still wish I had it.

Since then, I've built a 20" HBAR on a Bushmaster reciever and a 16" w/ collapsible on an SGW reciever.  Ain't ever selling these two!

Age 24  First Ar-15 recieved last week.  Bushmaster m4 with a bunch of accesories for a total cost  just over $1000.   I have not had a chance to fire it yet.  I have not fired a firearm in over 8 years so it will be a learning experience.

Bought a SP1 in 71 and took it new out of the box to a smith and had the carry handle and front sight chopped and scope mount built for it. Shot a lot of fur with it over the years and had CLE rebarrel it with a Krieger two years ago and refinish the upper receiver. Not for sure on this but I think the dealer price back then was <$200.

I bought a used Colt AR from my grilfriend's roommate in 1985. I paid $300 and have been kicking myself in the ass since 1990, when I traded it for a Mini 14. I bought a RR CAR Tactical a couple months ago to help ease my pain and suffering. I can sleep again.

Had wanted one since I was about five, when my father bought his SP1 (after reading "Lucifer's Hammer").
Wanted one more after I joined the Army, but never quite got around to it while I was in, and went straight into college after I completed my tour.  I played around with the M4 carbine during my last two days in the service, and knew from right then what I was going to get, but couldn't quite get the money together while in college.

Ordered my Bushmaster "M4-type" the day after I saw "Blackhawk Down", when I realized my last GI bill check had no bills assigned to it.
Seemed fitting.
