A friend brought me over about 1000 bullets today . They are .308 caliber and the base is recessed . The tip on these is pointed FMJ. It is metal, but the tip is red. There are 2 cannelures with a red band between them. I haven't weighed them yet, but they look long, I would have to guess about 200 grains. In the recessed base, it almost looks like some sort of primer cup. I'm thinking these are probably tracers. Any thoughts ???

Sounds like tracers.

The 2 cannelures are for 2 loads... 7.62x63 and 7.62x51

Yep those are tracers!

The red tip usually denotes tracers and the red band between the cannelure is probably a sealant.

Yep yep yep!

BTW, I thought I was the only one that reference the 7.62x63 as such.

Ok, so now the question is: are these real corrosive???   Would I want to put a few of these down the barrel of my .300 Ultra Mag or not ??? If so, what would I use to clean the bore with?? Thanks
