The only current Colt ARs that use standard-size fire control pins are full-autos. All Colt semi-autos use the larger fire control pins, even LEO rifles.

No, the 6400 is not an exception. It uses the oversize fire control parts. It *does* come from the factory with a standard-size captive push-pin for the pivot pin, which is good. Of course, any small-hole Colt can be converted to this configuration, though some will need the detent channel to be drilled, which is something best left to a gunsmith if you don't do that kind of work on a regular basis.

I can tell you that the trigger is still very heavy. I think a little polishing or maybe the [url=http://www.geocities.com/molonlaberkba/triggerjob.html]15 Minute Trigger Job[/url] would help out a great deal.
The comps are just pinned on and can easily be removed. |

Just so we're clear, we're talking about fire-control pins (and related parts), not the pivot pin. All current Colt rifles use the small (standard) size pivot pin, though most of them come with a screw instead of the standard push-pin. -Troy |

Good, good! I thought I was going crazy when I first saw an AR up close. Very comparable to getting a wood after seeing a really hot chick sashay on by...
But DAMN, ARs are addictive. Probably like drugs... : P I might want a Garand, then see a photo of an AR and change my mind instantly... |
