Not what you want to pay but what a realistic price.

I'll bite. I'm not paying any more for a pre-ban lower than I would for a post-ban lower.

The AWB IS going to sunset. I'm waiting.

Pre-ban, post-ban big freaking difference! [rolleyes][:D]

I would consider an AR-15 marked lower, if the price was right. What the right price was would depend on my mood at the time though. Probably more than what it's worth, and less than 500.

i wouldnt pay anymore for a preban than i would a postban..irregardless of the AWB sunset..the configurations that i prefer doesnt include any of the preban features anyhow..i brought this up once why the preban price was ridiculous..and its simple as long as ppl are willing to settle and pay those prices ppl will sell em for that..jus like i avoid payin retail for anything,,sumtimes ya jus gotta , but most times ya dont hafta..

I agree, but if your unsure then right now is a buyers market. Within the next few months the prices should really come down.

The Ban will be around forever and is going No Where !!!! A good Pre Ban Lower is always worth at least one G ($1,000) if not more !!!

A post ban BM 16" carbine is $1065.
Say an outrageous figure of $500 for a complete upper, that leaves $550 for a post ban lower.

lol..no way in the world would i pay 1050 for a postban..they can be had way cheaper..

Not a penny more than I would a post ban.  All AR lowers are pre ban in my eyes!

The only ones I would pay "good" money for would be the AR-15 marked Colts.  As others have said, I too believe the ban will go away and prices will come down some.

If I come across mint condition Colt Sporters, and they are in the $1000 to $1300 range, I still may buy one more depending on the make/mod.  For just the lower, I won't pay more than post ban prices because I want the original rifle, not a "parts" gun from a seperated lower.

I don't mind seeing my four Pre ban rifles decrease some in value, but I also think the Colts will still hold good value.  Good thing is I didn't pay out the ass for the ones I have so for me the hit will be low.  I figure it this way:

Colt Sporter Target- Paid $1325  will be worth @$900-1000

Colt Sporter Match HBAR- Paid $1200  will be worth @ $950-1050

Colt Sporter Competition HBAR- Paid $1575  will be worth @ $1100-1200

Bushmaster M-4 Paid $550  will be worth @ $750

At best senerio prices I figure I am about $650 in the hole should the ban end.

a buddy of mine said that he thinks that there might be another weapons ban. Perhaps one that will ban any "assault rifle" type firearms for good.  Does anyone else feel this way? I am interested in hearing what everyone has to say about this.

You guy's crack me up. I wish the ban , the next ban or what ever would go away. But do you think for one second they're going to make it any easier. The beltway sniper case alone hurt every chance we had. And FOX this sunday is showing 44minutes(about the L.A. bank robbery).I'd pay $1000 for a colt preban lower.

The price I'll pay depends not only the lower being preban but also which manufacturer.  I'll pay roughly $800 - $900 for an excellent Bushmaster or Eagle Arms preban lower but don't want any of the others - unless there is an absolute steal.

I personally wouldn't pay much more than what I would a postban.  Unless of course I found one for a damn good price.  Then i'd jack up the price and sell it to someone like fell-off-the-truck.

I saw a proud owner of an old pre-ban Colt triangle handguard AR-15.  So old, there were no guard ridges around the mag button.  He bought it a few weeks ago from a guy at work.  It was his first AR, no experience with them at all. He was astounded  at the attention he got when he said he paid $650 for it, with 12 magazines.  He said that the previous owner had not fired it in years and was glad to get rid of it.
Moral of the story:  They are out there. Keep looking.

Pre Ban items (Firearms, parts, etc.) are like any other durable or non-durable good.  If you follow the laws (economics for some of you) of supply and demand, meaning:  as items deplenish in number or there are fewer to be HAD, the price goes up!!!  Just like your new Mustag (decreasing in value as it sits on the lot) is not going to be worth as much as a 1967 Shelby Colbra (only a few left - Not a kit, the original).  There are only so many Pre Ban Colts "AR15", Bushes, Armalites.

I have paid 995 for both preban AR15's i have purchased.  I did get a different upper for my Bushmaster though which brought up the price to about 1100.  Paid 1150 for my FNC.
