Can someone explain the significance of the .223 Wylde chamber to me? I noticed that NM Rock River uppers have this designation.  Does this chambering allow for the firing of 5.56 NATO or .223Rem cartridges? I suspect this is a very tight tolerance chamber, but I am not sure.  Any help appreciated.

Quick answer for you is "yes".  The Wylde chamber is basically in between a standard .223 and military 5.56mm chamber.  It provides you the ability to fire the 5.56mm safely while still giving you the slightly better accuracy of the .223.
