Being somewhat void of a AR knowledge I plan to shoot some 3 gun matches and 100/200 yard bench shooting, what would be your opinion of a Bushy target XME-E2S 20 inch. Is the barrel length OK for the 3 gun?? This gun is advertised at aim surplus for about the price range I'm considering. Thanks..

Can't help you on competition info, but you can find that rifle at CDNN for the same price, plus a free scope and mag (as well as the usual Bushmaster goodies).

I was shopping for the same thing a few weeks ago and went with CDNN. Very pleased with the transaction

You have picked a good choice.  The only thing you might want to have done later on is get the barrel turned down under the h.guards to reduce weight.
