Thought about all that as well as this so I can use common surefire suppressor and resembles an extended a2

Swapped out my PSA for a colt 6921, and added a SF3P.  Also put in an IWC qd endplate and offset sling mount for personal preferences.

What's the consensus on PRI Gas Buster charging handles? Would they be correct for a Block I, or are they more 1.5/II?

Did a bad thing and ordered a new kac ras. So I will have the ras and the aimpount qrp mount to start my block 1 build. I will need to get some more rail covers and kac vfg as the rail I bought only has 3 11 rib panels. It's the commercial pack from kac.

Are there any options for putting the old school surefire tape switch on the top rail without zip ties or rubber bands?  I really like the cloud defensive mounts and am considering getting another.  Wondering if it would even fit?

Or, thinking of just ditching the m951 altogether for a m600.  Are those block 1.5 acceptable since the insights are impossible to find.

Nice setup, I have all the same parts on mine too.  Don't forget the spacer for the QRP mount to get the M2 or PRO up to the right height.  A PRO looks identical to the M2 but has better internals.

Yes, that's true but are easily changed out to the earlier models.  I did that with mine.  I also added a double battery compartment but that does not have to be done.  The PRO is far better than any used M2.

Was he a SEAL? I read an article about him but thought I read that he was a Green Beret.

ETA: just did some research on this guy. His name is Billy Waugh. Apparently in the pic he was working for the CIA. He joined the Green Berets in 1956 and did MACV-SOG stuff in the 60s and worked with CIA SAD. He was apparently 71 when he was in Afghanistan in 2002.
What an absolute fucking badass.

The internet seems to have conflated Billy Waugh with the guy in the photo - who is CLEARLY not 71 yrs old. He was an old dude in AFG. The dude in the pic apparently goes by the name "tex".

Been back and forth over the last year of buy/sell/ collecting some clone parts

Scanned most of the thread and after the last few pages seeing the discussions on Block 1 vs MWS im seeing where I stand

Parts I have or enroute to me

TA01NSN
KAC RAS kit with panels and broomstick
14.5 Colt SOCOM fsp barrel
C stamped upper receiver
SOPMOD stock (currently only a gen2)
Colt C stamped and MPC bcg
PRI gas buster
KAC 300m
Matech BUIS

Dont have a decent clone lower yet but have a Colt A2 and standard trigger guard on whatever i use as a placeholder.

Thinking of ordering caps to make 1 of my Aimpoint PROs looke the M2 part since my astigmatism is pretty rough with a 4moa dot. For this Id like to find a Wilcox mount

Edit: also I see a ton of 951 with the thinner bodies (not fat with a flat spot) are these actual SOPMOD lights or general issue M4/MWS

We’re getting there. Think I’m going to try and do a force recon clone with a tri rail up front on one of them. FLower and ras will be here next week as well as gas tubes, delta rings, and charging handles from shark arms.

Couple questions for you guys:

1) I have another upper which is a fn upper, does anyone have any idea where to get a surplus fn socom barrel? I’m thinking I might use this upper/barrel for a block 2 build

2) which is more clone correct the utg tri rail or the ergo and is the utg tri rail kosher? I’m so ocd the drooping of the ergo might drive me insane

By far my favourite rifles of my AR herd. Lower one is a parts gun that was my go to rifle for so long I was inspired to get a second. The colt is a 6920 with a 14.5 barrel swap.

Thanks

Im planning to work on building out a "kit" for a both a block 1 and block 2 of a 14.5 upper and CQBR. What are the main differences between the Mk18 mod 0 and the block 1 CQBR as far as parts on the upper? Seems most I see are listed as a Mod 0 or CQBR block 2 (with RIS II of course)

Edit posted this part in the wrong thread

Main upper is built out.

Colt SOCOM 14.5
Colt C stamped Upper Receiver
KAC RAS rail, broomstick, panels
KAC 300m rear sight
TA01NSN
Colt BCG
PRI Gasbuster

I realized I dont have any extra A2 FHs laying around  so installed a YHM until I get one.

Need help figuring out the most realistic light choice and sling mount

Edit: and a better background
