This is the best one that I have read.
Its the history of the AR15/M16 from the 1950 thru the late 1980's.
And yes, it has 100's of pictures.

+1 What a damn good book. Bought mine on amazon I believe.
It's called The Gun Digest Book of The AR-15. Pretty much everything you'll need to know, down to specific manufacturers.
