LW sells a rifle or an upper that has a gas piston system.   Has anyone shot or bought and shot one.  I would be interested in hearing about reliability.  

Do they require propietary hand guards?

I thought the SF uppers were private purchase? If I remember correctly it was only a handfull of uppers in the first place.
