The AUG is a great platform that would benefit significantly from a Geissle hammer and sear. Have you considered making these?

I don't think the hammer and sear would make much difference in the trigger pull. I believe that the long rod used in the bullpup design of the Aug makes the trigger pull heavier. But, if Geissele could make a new group that could lessen the pull weight (without compromising the reliability like the Neutrigger or Trigger Tamer might), then I would be very interested in this. I'd trust and prefer a Geissele trigger group product to a Neutrigger or Trigger Tamer. Geissele makes a quality product with a high standard reputation.

I have to disagree. The rod extending rearward from the trigger called the "sear" can be set under tension. What makes the AUG in particular have a heavy trigger pull are the dual hammer springs in the hammer pack. Trigger pull weight on the AUG is directly correlated to cocking pull weight, replacing the hammer pack with a different design (2020 HTM aka Steyr Precsion hammer pack) greatly reduces cocking pull weight as well, all the while the "Sear" rod stays the same. The AUG has the ability to lighten the trigger pull weight and the "sear" rod has virtually nothing to do with it. 2020 Precision has the TSM which replaces the plastic "slide" with a new design made of metal, this slightly lowers pull weight but significantly reduces travel and reset, making for an extremely capable and crisp trigger pull. The "Sear" stays the same, but the trigger characteristics drastically change. 2020 also made the HTM which was sold by Steyr as the Steyr precision hammer pack. This replaced the guts of the hammer pack with a "drop in" unit that incorporated AR15 components. This allows for a very light weight trigger pull with off the shelf AR parts. I have one which has the ALG ACT inside it. The trigger pull is a very smooth 3.75 pounds. The other HTM packs I bought had normal AR parts and were good hammer packs as well. With these, the "Sear" bar was never replaced. It's possible to have a trigger with great characteristics in the Steyr AUG, it's been done before. If Geissele believes that they can make a pack for the AUG, count me and many others as buyers. Two other items of note are the neutrigger and the trigger tamer. One is a replacement "bolt retaining lock" on the AUG hammer pack which caused doubling/tripling on some guns - no longer sold. The other is a piece of thin metal which wraps around the "slide" reducing friction - good luck if that falls off in your gun. Pic below is of 3 HTM hammer packs and a stock pack with the "slide" removed and replaced with the TSM. ALG ACT second from left. TSM third from left. http://i557.photobucket.com/albums/ss12/maleantemalandro/DSC00567_zps1l3v1lru.jpg View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted:

Though I'm not aware of anyone having a Neutrigger become dislodged or causing issues. The only item of concern to me with a lighter hammer spring, is overall recoil control and wear on the rifle. Upon firing, the AUG action is designed to have a certain amount of spring tension, of which the hammer spring feels like darned near half the contribution that the action is designed to cycle against. So I don't know if putting in a significantly lighter hammer spring will increase cycle velocity, and associated wear. The good news is Geissle knows how to keep a heavy hammer spring, yet lighten the trigger pull. |

How about using recoil buffers on the guide rods? I believe ratworx once made / sold some.

Are these 2020 trigger packs still available?
Would you guys like to see a single stage or two stage trigger? |
|
If anyone could do it, it would be Geissele! I would purchase two triggers at any price!
|
|
Mr. Geissele, is there anything you can do to help us Steyr AUG Shooters would be great! Help! Save us from the AUG Trigger! Maybe a complete trigger pack; or, just some select replacement parts?
|
|
I would gladly donate a trigger pack, or loan the whole rifle if need be.

By the very nature of the AUG platform, after market parts and etc would be a low density / low volume item, but I would still purchase two and would pay upfront in anticipation of a future product . I have five SSA triggers in my five ARs and know without any doubt that anything you would make for the AUG would be awesome.

Given the choice, I would prefer 2-stage. But if it were only available in single stage, it would still have my attention.

I would like to see two stage. And also it being something I can drop into my NATO stock AUG.

View Quote You might want to snag a NATO BHO or two - that's the only difference between a NATO hammer pack and a normal hammer pack... Note that the 2020 packs were limited by availability of AUG hammer pack housings - so that seems like the main sticking point in 3rd part AUG hammer packs.... Even the AUG Precision Trigger Pack was limited quantity - allegedly due to limited supplies of the housings. |

Especially considering another company is supposedly already in development of a two stage trigger for the AUG. This would give the end user a true choice (single or two stage) rather than the already limited AUG market trying to decide between two similar triggers/hammer packs. Or you know, you could always provide both options. |
|
Something like a single stage GS3G trigger with a spring that could be changed out or added to make the pull weight slightly heavier would force me to get another AUG instead of just lusting after one. The trigger and the relative lack of mud colored guns are the only things that prevent me from getting another one.
Well, that and the price. |

As I'm sure someone mentioned in thread, the holdup seemed to be in the factory housings not being available. I have one of the HTM packs in my AUG and like it quite a bit, previously having the Neu-Trigger as well as the TSM. I'd likely buy one for my next AUG. I'm somewhat indifferent between single vs double stage. I've shot some ARs w/very nice 2 stage triggers, but my AUG is my 'do it all' gun, including for competitions, so I'm used to it as it is now with the 2020. A sub 5#, proven reliable, crisp break and short reset single stage would likely sell as well as a 2 stage, IMO - and I'd likely buy either one. |

I would be in for 2 or 3. Honest question, you have two AUGs or a long term backup plan? There are lots of people with as many AUG's as some here have AR15's. |

Totally would want an upgraded trigger.
Tried the 2020 sear from ratworx and I'm left with failures to reset. I'd definitely be down to buy a reliable improvement over the factory trigger |

Single stage preferred but I'll gladly buy either.
Love the S3G and anything close to that is a winner. |
|
I'd buy a AUG based solely on Bill making a trigger group for it.
It's the ONLY bullpup I'm interested in. Please, please, please, please, please, pretty please, with sugar on top! |
