Nice!
By the the dates you gave this must be their third batch. |

That Magpul aftermarket handguard doesn't look bad at all. kinda like it.
|
|
The Magpul hand guards do a great job insulating the barrel heat.
Colt should pay more attention to the rifle market not many will buy the reissued M16 A1 but people are buying AR-15 A4 rifles. Sunday when I ordered this rifle I checked gundeals.com and it showed 15 dealers who had this rifle in stock today there is just 1. Just a thought but Colt if you want to make some money maybe you should manufacture more AR-15 A4 rifles. |
|
did it come with the hat?
I bought one from a LGS last December...I really think I like shooting the 20" rifle more than my carbine. GT distributors finally got around to calling me about my A4 I had backordered with them since last March or April...appreciate the call..but thats one hell of a wait lol. |
|
Yes it does have the shiny triangular cap but the Magpul hand guards take care of that. lol
That's ridiculous to have one on order for a year, I've been looking for them for several months myself. I was almost going to buy the FN and then I found some dealers with the AR-15 A4 in stock again. Colt needs to ramp up on manufacturing these rifles...this is easy money for them. |
|
The cap was from a rebate Colt had awhile ago...it's just seasoned now.
|
|
As good as the A4 is for Colt, the Expanse is the money maker....I had written about how the sales in the Expanse are smoking previous sales in the 6920. Its all about putting resources where they will benefit you the most. I agree, with a bit of marketing, they could do a great business with the A4. I am possibly looking for a sister or brother to accompany the one I have.

Took it out today and it did great I shot 320 rounds without issue.
At 25 yards it only took 4 clicks of left windage to get it in the bulls eye. |

I used Federal XM193 55 gr FMJ.
Here is a video that my wife took when I was shooting a steel silhouette @ 100 yards. Shooting steel silhouettes is a blast...my M1 Garand really makes it ring. |
|
Good job you won't regret it
What does your serial start with? I am CAR166xx |
|
|
|
Mine is one of the marked 1:9
I go back and fourth if I should send it in or not My thought is I never plan on selling so I might as well keep it as is and maybe one day it will be worth a few extra dollars |

Can I derail the thread a second?
Are these colts held in as high of a regard as the 20" bcm's Here ? This colt is new to me, and I like it. Accuracy and durability all going to be good, any benefits of one vs the other?! I really really like the idea of the colt being factory built and turn key. That's a nice gun |

But, if you are piecing together the A4 build from scratch, and concerned about long term value, the Colt factory rifle is a no-brainer. |

The Colt A4 rifles are now a solid value, now that the rifle is actually tangible and prices have dropped. FYI looks like Grabagun has AR15A4's coming in and out of stock. Anyone looking for one should get on the notify list when back in stock:

That's solid information. I have a lower, and a larue 12", but I think I'll end up doing this colt. It looks like a great value on a turn key gun. I have lots of high end equipped frankenguns, so maybe a factory complete 20" would be good for me View Quote There ar quite a few on Gunbroker lately.... and they are selling for reasonable prices. If you cannot find one in stock locally, this could be a good place to look. This wasn't the case a year ago, when these files were fetching up to $1500 at auction. |

My only complaint with the AR-15 A4 so far is the tight mag well. Even my Colt 20/30 round mags don't drop free.
I guess in time it will break in and wear some of the finish off inside the mag well. |

Congratulations! I need to stop procrastinating and add a AR15A4 into the fold.

That would be a tough decision for me with the shipping hassle and long turnaround and all...On the other hand if it doesn't bother you ,ask Colt to put in writing that it shipped from the Factory that way so it doesn't devalue it down the road if you want to sell it

I officially have the bug! No collection is complete without one. As for my next purchase, I am eyeing either SP1 or the newly released 14.5" PW 6920 SOCOM. I absolutely love it! I spoke with a Colt Customer service representative this morning and he confirmed that it was a factory error. I have the option of sending my rifle back or keeping it as is. What should I do? View Quote ETA: I'd damn sure take it out and shoot it a bit to tide you over until it's back. But be nice and clean it afterwards... |

View Quote Will it ever be worth more probably not. If I received yours I'd send it back. It's not really an error in the sense that it was mismarked. Someone just used the wrong lower. I think that would even be less likely to be worth any more. |
