Yes, it will be availible to the public first actually.

I was never interested in .308, but I might be now. If they become available to the public I will wait about 2 years for the prices to settle down a bit

And I just bought all of those magazines for my AR-10... Same here, my LR-308 was my heavy metal class 3-gun rifle and I've got 15 mags for it. WTH, they'll sell too! |

I want a 20-21" barrel probably because everyone wants a "battle rifle" 30 cal AR15 these days, thats more liek a carbine. like the KAC EMC. not so much a target/sniper version. I think the 16 inch with carbine stock is the right combo. i would think if its a huge hit. a 20 inch will follow |

hi-res picture
http://militarytimes.com/blogs/gearscout/files/2011/01/Colt-SP901-R.jpg The rail and gas system appear to be longer in this version. This version is shown in the colt catalog. I counted 45 top rail slots. The other pictures of this rifle that are floating around have only 39 rail slots. I like the long rail version. Two things: Slings sockets should limit rotation of a QD swivel unlike the 6940's sockets. (This goes for any company making QD swivel mounts) They list the barrel as 16.1” Heavy, I hope it isn't Colt's HBAR profile. The catalog gives the following specs: .308 Win (7.62x51 NATO) 16.1” Heavy Chromed, 4 Grooves, 1-12” RH Twist Flip-Up, Adjustable Post for Elevation Flip-Up, Adjustable for both Windage and Elevation 37.5” 34.24” 9.4 lbs Semi-Auto, Direct Gas System, Locking Bolt Matte Black |

I just ordered some .308 P-Mags!
|
|
|
I just had some 5.56 Pmags delivered yesterday.. would be excited to go ahead and order some .308 mags.. but I want to see what the street pricing and availability of the this 901 rifle would be.
Theres a huge chance it wont be on the street until after July and it might command a $3000+ asking price well into the end of the year. I dont think we will see available under $1500 until this time next year or even later. |

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QAXpE-R1H3I The version in the catalog that shows the longer rail is older- not going to be produced that way. |

As mentioned earlier, I am sure street pirce will be very high initially. I will certainly purchase one for 1500 maybe even $2000. But no more than that. I just can't swing it or rationalize it at this moment. It would be a large investment because I currently do not run anything in 308. 30-06 is my current hard-hitter.

I've been trying to decide which of all the .308s to get between LMT, LWRC, and LaRue.....now that Colt is in the game my decision is made
|

I'd definitely enjoy having this. They I can just buy uppers instead of whole rifles, which leave leave more room in the safe for other shit.
