What is your hat size? Not sure. I generally don't wear hats, but I've never had any hat fit the way these hats do ... |
You ought to run a cloth/soft tape around your head, get the measurement, then go look at a site like Cabela's that has fit tables, and get your hat size. Can't really expect them to offer hats that are way out of the norm, but if you're not far out of the usual range, maybe they would see if they can get their supplier to make them with a bigger range of adjustment.

I hate shallow hats like that. That's just not a normal hat depth. I dunno I have a big head 7-5/8" or 7-1/2" depending on hat manufacturer. I'm 5'9" and have a big head.
I thought everything was bigger in Texas? I guess not the hats. |
The problem definitely has more to do with the depth than it does to do with the circumference. I have a big noggin, but most "one size fits all" hats generally fit okay. The hats from LaRue feel like a yarmulke though...
It's no skin off my back though because I've never paid for one, and I just give them to friends that want them. |
It's totally a depth thing, not a circumference thing.
The hat is just too damn shallow ... |

+1. 7 3/4 here. Been giving my hats away. They are too small for my 16 year old son too!
Could I buy some fitted blank hats and have LaRue's embroiderer sew the logo on them for a fee? I'd be willing to do that! |

+1. A fitted Larue hat would be the fucking cool. And the hats are a tad shallow for my head as well.
With a hat size of 7 3/4...I thought I had a big head.
I had to get the largest Kevlar helmet in the Army inventory...made me feel like Rick Moranis on Space Balls. However, our hats fit me great. Go figure. Then again, I like the lower profile hats. For those with fit problems...what hats fit you correctly? Those trucker hats with the foam fronts and mesh backs? |

Well, I have a couple Microsoft hats that fit, too, but I don't work there any more so I don't billboard for them. the 2x/3x ones. |

The low profile hats are best - those old 70's style foam/mesh POS hats can only be worn properly with a mullet and cutoff plaid shirt. |

I wear a 71/2 or 75/8 depending on the hat. The LaRue hats look goofy on me too. I've only found a few hats that work well on my nogin. 59Fifty are my favorite. I'd actually pay for a fitted LaRue hat.
LaRue hats won't even stay on my head. It isn't "looks goofy", although it may. It's "move my head too fast and it falls off".
I wear a 7 1/2 and LaRue hats fit me just fine. Of course, I can't wear any MLB fitted hat because they're too deep. The hat band comes down to my ears and eyebrows and there is still a big open space above my noggin. Oh well....

Flexifit hats have a higher profile. But you can do a custom order domestically. http://www.flexfit.com/style/flexfit http://www.flexfit.com/custom New Era also does custom hats as jsteih pointed out. I think their hats may still be made in the USA. http://www2.neweracap.com/category/14/About_New_Era/page/243/BUY_CAPS_FOR_YOUR_CORPORATION.aspx |

if you don't want your shallow hat I'm more then willing to wear it for you
I love the hats mine in shreds lol going to order another. |
+1 for bigger hats. I've got 3 sitting in the closet, and I've given a couple away.
Mine sit's up there on my head like a beanie, lol. I measured my head and I'm around 7 3/4 in size. Are the new hat's with the velcro the exact same hat as the old ones, but with velcro? I thought I might order one of those and give it a shot. |
Are you guys complaining about the free hats included in some orders, or did you order and pay for them?

First off I was told only cowboys wear hats, everything else is a ballcap. With that said I'll say this about the hats:
Trucker hats and the flex fit hats work best for me. I have a Jim Beam hat I got with a bottle and I wear it a lot because it's the larger profile. I'm 5'8 and have always been told I have a big head. I have a Noveske hat and won't wear it because it feels like I'm Smalls from The Sandlot and the bill sticks 5 miles in front of my face. Cabela's hats are the same way so mine sits on the shelf, looks cool and I never wear it. I like the full length hats because it feels like it fits on my head better. I like the mesh hats because they hold their shape better than most hats I wear. While I don't see LaRue Tactical switching to this style of hat possibly the FlexFit style or a deeper hat would work. What about a LaRue Tactical cowboy style hat? Black Resistol with the LaRue Dillo? |

The hats being discussed are those sold by LaRue Tactical for advertisement purposes (and trading on ARFCOM) to increase exposure. The individuals in this thread appreciate the hats, as well as plethora of miscellaneous items included with purchases from the company, and are providing feedback to the company about the inability of the item to provide the purchases with the opportunity to advertise for the company. There are some individuals who give them away so LaRue Tactical can benefit from their endevours to satisfy customers with free items included with purchases however those who obtain the merchandise feel deprived from experiencing the joys that are associated with wearing a LaRue Tactical hat. It is in this manner the consumers would greatly appreciate any effort from LaRue Tactical to accomidate their passion to advertise the company and discuss the quality and service provided while at the beach, a major sporting event, or when time did not permit them to prepare their hare in a more presentable manner. |

I knew a guy in the army who had a 4L; he had to hand carry it from post to post. One of the smaller guys in our unit put his own kevlar on, then straped this guys melon-sized one on top of their own K-pot. |

I noticed the trend to skull type hats for shaved heads probably for those who are freaked they are losing their hair, getting gray or cops and white power headbangers. The plus is they save material but there is not enough material to keep it on your head without glue in the wind.I do not accept the new hats and use my old ones that fit and make you feel like you are actually wearing one

I think the style of cap is the problem. EVERY hat i have in that style (yes i collect baseball caps, mostly from vendors at work) is too small depth-wise. Those strap-style adjustable hats blow. Even my eight year old cant get his head in them.
I don't think they even make a hat to fit my huge head.
I had to have a 7-3/4" graduation cap ordered for my high school graduation, and it was too small (I'm 6' 7" tall - sasquatchy - with lots of hair too). Fortunately, all my college graduation mortar boards had elastic in the back. I guess the schools learned that people have some big heads. Even those looked like they were spray-painted on my head. So, all ye who complain of poor-fitting hats... welcome to my world, where hats aren't really an option. Oddly enough, the foam trucker hats will sometimes fit in the very last hole in the back adjustment strap thing. So, I could wear that kind, if I wanted to look like (a better looking) Judah Friedlander. EDIT: Just measured my head, and I have just over a 24" circumference. Cabela's sizing chart says I should order one 2" larger, and that would put me at a 3XL (8"+) hat, if there was such a thing. I can cram my head in an 8" hat, but smaller than that either doesn't fit at all or gives me headaches. |

LaRue get up off you butts and buy custom hats for everyone.
It seems like they are selling plenty of product even with the loss of advertising. Come on guys, read through this it sounds like some serious whining. I read that several of you have had this problem with other hats but you want LaRue to fix it? They do pretty good by all of us me thinks. |

I agree that I need a larger hat for my oversized dome as well. I made the same complaint to Todd Green of www.pistol-training.com after the class and he told me to shrink my head
The hats that Noveske sends out are a perfect size for me though. |
They fit me just fine, though I only have a 7-1/4 noggin. I also prefer low-pro hats to the ones that have lots of extra material to "bag up" on the front of my head. That' being said, I'll still flag for LT if they decide to go with a larger cut.
My head is 7 5/8, and there is no way they fit. Too shallow and too small in circumference. I gave mine to my mom, she loves it. I really like the way the fitted MLB hats fit, but I'm not a big baseball fan. Even flex fit hats are difficult to find that fit me. The other thing is that I can't have a hat that is too tight, I get headaches. 7 5/8 is the perfect size- won't come off, nice and snug but not tight. I prefer hats that have some structure to them, but I was going to wear the LT one anyway until I realized it was not an option. I'd love to see a fitted (or even flex fit if it was large enough) hat that mirrors the style of official MLB hats.

Are the hats that they sell on the site the same ones they send as swag?
I will pay for a hat no problem, and the one that I got with my rail is, like many reported, too small. I can manage to wear it, but it looks dorky due to the lack of depth. I dont expect LT to go get new hats to send out for free, but if I purchase one, I would like it to be a fitted Baseball type cap that I can use for shooting. I need one that can sit low on my brow, with a two-finger gap from my nose to the brim (like Marine Corps style), and will sit over my scope to block the sun. I ABSOLUTELY love the fact that the hats dont have the button on the top (KILLS my head from the Ear-Pro), but the fact that it sits high on my head, blows off in the wind and looks like Howie Mandel doing the glove on his head routine is a no-go. Must not be a Texas-spec hat... that, or Texas-spec heads are smaller than ours. |
