In before hacksaw...
Reaction rod and wrench not working for you? |
LT use rocksett at the factory? Just boil in water then loosen.

Has anyone confirmed what LaRue uses, green loc-tite or rockset?

Quoted: Hey Mark how do you get this off? @LaRue_Tactical View Quote You need a barrel vice/reaction rod, then you need a map gas torch, no propane, its not hot enough, heat the brake quickly, and remove it after it starts to smoke, that is the loctite letting go. I am not Mark, but he isnt going to answer you. |

Quoted: A reaction rod seems a bit pricey View Quote Fine, pick some other method of fully supporting the barrel while cranking on the brake after applying appropriate heat and getting it to smoke. A regular vice with wood blocks can work in a pinch but is less than guaranteed, especially if you aren’t serious about the heat, as has already been pointed out. Honestly, if you have this many questions about peeling off a brake that has been mounted in such a way as to support a silencer, you’re going to be money ahead finding a reputable gunsmith in your area or employing a shop like ADCO to do it for you. |

Quoted: Not a 3000 dollar rifle View Quote Do you build a lot of rifles? I've found my reaction rod to come in very handy. And it doesn't risk warping or scratching the upper... Really great tool if you can bring yourself to buy one. This would be a non-issue if you had one. You could wrench the hell out of the muzzle device to get it off... But really, there is no way of pussy footing around it. You're going to have to use some umph to get it off. A reaction rod is the safest way to do that, but as long as you support the barrel / upper as best you can you should be able to get it off. Like others have said, it may take some heat but it'll come off. What is the barrel length? It's not a 14.5" pinned and welded right? Just making sure... |
Do not be afraid to heat it up. I do a lot of forging and as long as you do not heat it up to a glowing cherry red you will be fine. Heat til as mentioned it smokes. Then wrench it off. Oh don't burn yourself. And so not drop it in water. Let it cool by its self.

Title misdirection...
Why are we requesting to lock this up? Is someone losing their shit or something? |

Wow! Op gets good information repeated a dozen times and disregards. Thread title is misleading.
“Mods lock it up” should be “Solo troll thread!” |
We could all ignore the OP, and turn this into an epic thread.
What’s really funny is there’s only one active Mod for this forum as far as I know...
Pretty sure it’s the same guy OP wanted a response from so isn’t locking it sort of like giving him a response |
