-Under no circumstances should you buy a Moultrie. I bought one recently that was DOA. Their customer service is non-existant, and the model I bought was discontinued, so it couldn't be fixed. They sent a replacement.

I bought the model I did becaused it could use a six volt battery with a solar panel.
The new one they sent uses "D" batteries, and it'll cost a fortune to keep it in batteries.
Go with anybody else.

I have had a similar experience.

I have had excellent luck with the Stealth Cam series, however I have not tried a solar panel on it yet. It is taking about 400 pictures every 2 weeks on the 6- C cell batteries.

They offer a 12 volt external battery pack for the cameras but I have not tried it. I will be looking into adding a solar panel to it soon.
