I just got my notice.

$302.90

It got me thinking... if that's 10% of items I purchased at regular price, I need to stay away from REI.  I know I purchased several items not eligible for the dividend payout.

Anyone got me beat?  What are you buying with your dividend check?  I only have one item on my list and it isn't out yet.  I'll wait for that and spend the rest on whatever I need along the way.

I am addicted.  I don't purchase much for myself these days.  I just upgrade when something better or lighter comes out to the market.  I've been purchasing gear for friends that can't afford to purchase equipment... I like having people with me when I backpack/camp.  I'm also a guide for small groups of children who enjoy the outdoors.  Most of them either don't have parents who are able to take them, or unfortunately, not willing to take them.  So having extra gear around for the kids is always necessary.  There isn't much better than seeing a child really enjoy his time in the outdoors.

Oh I wish.  My dividend check would have been insane if that were the case.

I can't even remember what I bought last year (Other than an MSR Reactor) but it seems I have a $40.99 dividend.

Just checked and it seems I spend $400+ on dividend applicable stuff and another $180 on other stuff.

I didn't get any dividend, but they sent me the sample ballot to elect their board, and a coupon for 20% off any non-sale item. I bought everything on sale.

Therma rests are worth their weight in gold.  After a good water filter, Tent and bag, a therma rest can make or break a trip.

$302.90!!!!

Mine was only $37.00.
But, I've been an REI member since 1977 so you'd think I'd have everything I need by now.

Spent it yesterday.

This year, my wife and I got $73.32. I just used that and the 20% off one item to buy a new Novara bike. I plan on riding it to work every day this summer. (weather permitting)

I love REI, but 300+ for a dividend is nuts!

If you have an REI VISA card, you also get 1% of non-REI purchases & 5% of REI purchases (plus the usual 10% rebate)
added to your rebate total.

I've been trying to convince my wife that we need to use an REI card for gasoline purchases...it's "free money", of a sorts.
(No lectures, please:  we use a card for gas for convenience, and pay it off every month.)
