I live in SC and want to trade rifles with a guy who lives in NC. He's only 2 hours away, so it seems like a waste of time to ship them.
Wondering how to do a legal FTF trade. So far the only answer I can find is "trades between individuals who live in different states MUST go through an FFL, regardless of state or type of firearm." That doesn't fully answer my question.
Do we:
a.) meet halfway, exchange rifles and info, then bring them back to our own FFLs for a transfer (if individuals can ship rifles to an FFL, can individuals personally bring rifles to an FFL?)
b.) meet at an FFL in either state and have that FFL transfer both of them to us (if I can purchase rifles from a NC FFL, can I have a NC FFL transfer a rifle from a trade?)
c.) meet at an FFL in SC to transfer his rifle to me AND then meet at an FFL in NC to transfer my rifle to him (I hope this isn't the answer, because that will complicate things a bit)
Thanks in advance for the help.
