I posted this in the Magazines and thought it might get a read in this section. Here is one for ya. This cat I know who is active duty in the military keeps talking about buying a beta c-mag for himself. Wants to use it as a first contact 100 rounds no waiting for patroling. Can someone who is active duty buy one of the post ban beta-c mags for himself? I told him that I wasn’t sure he could do it as an individual and what was he going to do with the damn thing once he got out. I told him just pony up for the pre-ban and avoid any hassles. Opinions?

I don't believe so.  His unit can through an FFL, but he cannot just buy a post-ban simply because he is active duty.  If he is issued one that his unit purchases through legal channels, he can use the restricted mag while on duty, but not otherwise.

Yeah that's what I thought. Because individual LEO can't buy the things either, at least not with out a department letterhead.  Thanks

Most units frown on carrying any equipment that isn't issued.
