Has anybody seen the previews to his latest movie with Eddie Murphy?

Jesus christ man, what the hell has happened to this once great actor? Now he's reduced to acting in some crap ass cop buddy movie that has been done a million times?

I mean I know this isn't the first silly film he's been in, but still, this crap from the man who has given us some incredible roles.

Lest review some of the finer ones.

Raging Bull, Deer Hunter, Taxi Driver, Once Upon A Time In America, Goodfella's, and Mean Streets.

And while it wasn't a great movie, he still did a good job in A Bronx Tale (loved that speech about the working man being the tough guy).

So why now all this crap?

I hope I'm wrong on this:
Didn't De Niro back Algore?

I still like his line in Ronin...
"So, you're a 'weapons man', are ya?"

Yeah, I saw the previews and shook my head.
I don't know how much DeNiro gets just for signing a contract, but it's a pretty good chunk, I would imagine.  He probably just said what the hell.

DeNiro is a great actor and I always enjoy his movies.  Hell that recent one with Ben Stiller was funnier than hell, largely because of DeNiro.  I think it's kinda cool he can take roles that aren't so serious or self-consciously arty.  Although I am a bit surprised to see him paired with Eddie Murphy.

DeNiro's also a big Klinton supporter and was prominently featured in some sort of farewell fundraiser for our beloved ex-prez.

And this is it about Eddie Murphy:

No prostitutes get in my car, rain or no rain. It lightenings and I roll down my window and and say "He's lookin for ya!" Then I speed off. The whore gets wetter. Don't like the rain? Go make a home for yourself that you are welcome and respected in. And never have I been fooled by a man in womans clothes! Not buying his story? Not at all! He hired a she-male prostitute!

Did you ever stop to think that maybe it's actually a good movie?  In Meet the Parents, he was great despite the movie being based on another completely unoriginal idea.  Awkward potential son-in-law meets parents has been done many times before, probably in more sitcoms than not.  Also, much of the comedy was based on misunderstandings not much different from a bad Three's Company episode, but DeNiro made it work.  His typical suspicious and paranoid acting, played well as a concerned parent.  seamusmcoi, when you see the movie and don't like, then complain.  Until then, you're just guessing.z
