I suggest you folks read the book [url=http://www.booksamillion.com/ncom/books?id=2153136608118&isbn=0895261901]Bias[/url] by Bernard Goldberg.
One of the chapters mentions this exact problem. I forget which news organization he mentioned, which has the policy of requiring minority quotes in just about every story -- so one local Japanese immigrant frequently gets calls to get her views on such important topics as Hannukah cooking. The book is excellent. It goes into detail about several different scams that the media has run, and gives many examples of the various ways in which they slant news coverage to favor "liberals" and "liberal" causes. BTW, that is an active link, not just an underlined red word. I recommend buying from BooksAMillion.com, because they are cheaper and are considerably more conservative than Amazon.com. |
