Wife and I took our newborn out for a little road trip today.
On the way home, it had gotten dark. Baby started crying, and we knew she was hungry.
I was on interstate 80, and there were no rest stops for another 20 minutes, so I took the nearest exit.
Then I turned onto the on-ramp to get back on the interstate, and parked on the shoulder.
Wife jumped in the back seat, and proceeded to breastfeed the kid.
10 minutes later, a car pulled in behind me. All I could see was headlights out my back window.
I didn't want a stranger coming to my vehicle, so I got out to keep a better eye on things.
I finally saw a light bar on top of the car. It was the State Police. I was actually relieved.
Officer exited his vehicle and said he just wanted to know if everything was okay.
I explained the situation, and said "you can come check out my car if you want".
He said "no thanks", spun around and got back in his car.
Since when do the police ever turn down an offer to search someone's car?
I'm chuckling to myself thinking the officer didn't want to expose himself to that situation.
