We had chilli here at the firehouse tonight.   Actually it was more of a spicy meat sauce, but they called it chilli.

No, but I made up a batch of what I call Polish Stew.

Kielbasa, stewed maters, canned taters, shredded cabbage, green bell peppers, onion, carrots.

Let it percolate a couple hours.  It's damn good.

Does sound good what spices do you put in it?

Believe it or not I throw about a teaspoon of Tony Chachere in there.  I love that stuff and it's salty enough that you don't need to add salt.

But that's it for spice.  I normally throw half a rack of different things into my cooking but this dish is better simple.

I also make some sourdough bread and some home-made butter.  Actually, my 7yo made the butter since I don't have the patience to shake a jar of cream for like 20 minutes.

Nope, the hubby made a big stock pot of it several days ago.  We will be eating the last of it tomorrow.

I'll be making roast chicken one day this weekend, and pork chops the other day.  Will do enough of each to have leftovers for dinner through this week so I don't have to worry about cooking in the evenings - too much Christmas prep left to do instead!

I'm going to whip up a crockpot full of it tomorrow.  It might get into the high 30's here.

Currently in the San Gabriel Valley, 5 miles east of Los Angeles the temp is 55ºF, and heading down to a low of 53ºF in the early morning. Winds are calm and the skies are clear.

Personally, I like yankee pot roast.
