My old ass crock-pot died, so I got a new one a few days ago.  Made some chicken and dumplings, put the stuff in the crock-pot before work...got home and all the juices had boiled out.  It was way too hot!  Any way to correct it or is it just fucked?

If you had it set on "low" and it cooked too hot, return it to the store and buy a different model.  Why bother trying to fix it?

Just wondering if it's a common problem and if it's fixable...It's a Rival brand, if that makes a difference.  It was on low, but boiled out almost all the liquid that was in there.

I have had TWO different models do the same thing- even LOW seems too hot - But "warm" is not hot enough- ALL FUCKING PILES OF SHIT.

Ours did that too and we doubled the recipe(it was barely half full before) and it did fine. Was yours over 3/4 full?

Then again, it may be calibrated wrong.

The big one...the little one is great for dips.  I made spinach dip in it and it performed flawlessly.

It was ~3/4 full.

It may be the perfect temperature for bluing gun parts.

If it is too hot on the low setting there isn't anything you can do to fix it. If it is new, just take it/send it back.

(got a pot roast in mine right now!)

Got one in mine too at the moment.  I'm giving it a second chance, if it gets too hot...I can at least take it out since I'm here.

This is pretty common with new crock pots.  You can blame the food-safety-nazi crowd for upping the temperatures.

Go to Salvation Army/Goodwill and look for an older model.

Thought about that too, but I don't want to burn down my apartment complex...but I guess it couldn't get hotter than this one did.  We'll see, I filled it all the way up ~noon today with a pot roast.  Maybe I didn't have enough liquid in it.

I have a bigger crockpot and it is too hot if the pot isn't at least 2/3 full.  I usually cook it on low and then let it go to warm for a while.

You could spend a little more and get one that has programmable temperature control?  I don't own this one just searched on amazon really quick.   Maybe someone here has this one or something similar.   Mine is an old school crock pot.

Only other thing I could think of is the lid sealing tightly?

If not, all the goodness will boil away.
