Longview man charged with running over two pedestrians

A Longview man remained jailed Monday after authorities said he struck two pedestrians with his vehicle.

Jamar Devaso Bradford, who faces up to 20 years prison if convicted of the assault, said he was trying to escape after other individuals attacked him first.

Longview responded to a hit-and-run call at 4:12 p.m. Sunday in the 4300 block of Dortch Drive. Witnesses told police that Bradford struck two pedestrians with his vehicle, went to the end of the road, turned around and struck the female victim again before leaving the scene, according to arrest reports.

The female victim suffered a broken femur and abrasions to her face, head, back, arms and legs, while the male victim reported that his left foot was run over, reports showed.

Police found Bradford at Longview Regional Medical Center getting medical treatment. Bradford said he was hit with a tire iron while sitting in his vehicle and he had tried to get out of the area on Dortch Drive. The female victim was standing in the middle of the road and would not get out of the way as he tried to leave the scene, and he struck her with his vehicle, according to arrest reports.

Police booked Bradford into the Gregg County Jail on a charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. Bond was set at $15,000.

 WTF is wrong with people these days, 2 or 3 tons of steel coming at you means move dumbass.

He'll probably plead to diminished capacity due to a head injury.  If the comment about the bitch not moving is true, he shouldn't be charged with dick.

If they tried to carjack him and they got run over, I say it's a good smush.

If he really was attacked first with a tire iron, I wouldn't charge him with anything. If the woman was one of the attackers, she doesn't get to bitch about being run over, even twice.

yup, if that was what really happened, good run over...  BUT, his being charged tells me there be more to the story.

him turning around and running her over again means bad times for him. he hit her the first time to facilitate escape from the "assault"-that would be a good smush. turning around and running over her dumbass again is at the least assault with dealy weapon/intenet to kill, at worst attempted murder.

Depends, if that was his only means of egress after she took part in an assault on him, then I'd vote not guilty.

Dortch Drive is a dead end street. The article isn't very clear on that. If the female was helping the attacked/was the attacker then GRO (Good Run Over).

So, technically she was jaywalking.
