My son's 3rd grade class is making a time capsule to put in the foundation of the new school being built.
I gave him a 9/11 newspaper to add to it.
I geuss that kind of sums the the current state of affairs in the world.
What would you contribute to a time capsule representing this time period?

I'd include a complete record of ALL the Clinton scandals just so that future generations will know what a SOB he was!

The Constitution, BOR and the founders writings concerning them to show people why the US was at one time such a great nation and what we used to stand for.

I welded up a time capsule for Cannon Airforce Base when I was stationed there. We put pictures of our families and current addresses, current Airforce uniforms and regulations, the obligatory Playboy Magazine, etc. It will be opened in 2079. Good luck.

How about this little suggestion:

Anybody remember the supernuke the Soviets had that was connected to sensors around the USSR and would detonate if they picked up unusual amounts of radiation?  Why don't we take that bomb and put it into a time capsule set to explode upon opening.  We keep the information on the QT, like only telling conservative presidents what is really in the capsule.  If there is still a conservative ex-president left alive in 50-100 years (or even an active-duty president) he will deactivate the bomb before the opening.  If we have become so liberal that no conservative ex-presidents are still around the secret will die.  When the anti-nuke, dirt-worshipping, bunny-hugging, pinko, gun-grabbing, bull-dyke, femnazi, ultra-liberal, do-it-for-the-children!, anti-freedom, pro-conformity, socialists open it they will be in for a big surprise!!

How about a post-ban barrel assy. and non-collapsable stock?

So people can see the stupid things we did before the NFA and all other restrictive gun laws were repealed.[:D]

I would put copies of sophmore college level science textbooks. General Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, General Biology, Microbiology, Physics, Ecology, etc...  This not only reflects a general state of knowledge for a discipline, but also the general state of knowledge that the average college educated person has.  Ultimately, it tells us what we are teaching our young people.  It could be very frightening for the future generations to see.

Myself, a Mauser rifle, a Walther P 38, 5,000 rounds of ammo for each, a dozen cartons Lucky Strikes, a zippo, and couple or six kegs of Paulaner.....wait, I think that's the answer for the "What would you take to the island" question.
