I saw a book about that in Borders a couple years ago, but until that point I didn't know about it either. From flipping through the book it sounded like it was a pretty crazy situation.

Never read about this...........crazy stuff.
Amazing that the SS wasn't prepared at all for such a event, and had to attempt to retrieve a thompson from a locked cabinet.... |

But yeah, interesting piece of history. I didn't know about it either till arfcom brought it up a year or so ago. It's actually amazing how many attempts are made on the Presidents lives throughout history. |

IIRC, Truman actually thought he would have to defend himself during the attack. That SS agent got off a good shot after being wounded.........big ones on that guy.
