KF4PEP here, advanced class in western NC.

How many folks are active on HF? I'm just about to get my staion back online after about 1.5 years, anyone up for an AR15.com/ gun nut net?

I'm more active on 10m than any other but will have all abnd capability shortly.

W8MSD in WV, not a lot of time to be on the air, when time is available prefer SW listening.
I run a Yeasu FT-100D at the QTH with a Hustler 5BTV verticle and a double bazooka for 80 meters. I was given a 60 foot Rohn tower with a tribander and rotor, but I have to take it down and disassemble.

In the process of building a HF 500 watt amp kit.

Let's try a sked someday..

AB0IO, Niwot, CO. Sold my Yaesu FT1000 MkV and Yaesu 1KW amp to buy gun stuff. ;-) Currently off the air. When I do get to operate I like 10 and 15 meter DXing, phone and CW.

KA3Q** General Class here (I agree with QuietShootr). Haven't been on much lately. Sold all my HF gear years ago after the late `80's sunspot cycle ended. I did get a mobile phone QSL from South Africa on 10M back then, but nowadays I mostly use digital UHF switched propagation (cell phone).

NN9NN, Extra in Northern Wisconsin. Mostly on 2, 10, 17 and 40---all phone---for that matter--- the only code I ever listen to anymore is when I key up the local repeater.

KB1*** here, 13WPM General. Always HATED CW. I turn the radio on once every 6 months or so and listen. Haven't made a contact since November 1999. I found a lot of extremely rude people that I didn't want to talk to. Keep the set-up for survival/emergency reasons only.

KC8J** Tech No-Code, but dabbling in studying for my General. Had a HT I sold to buy a Colt Commander, so I'm off the air right now. Kind of busy too, with work and everything.

I would like to get into HF and CW sometime, once all my other hobbies let me.

I was really into it back in the early 1990's.
Got My advanced ticket, made contacts all over the planet.
Sold My Yaesu FT890/AT to buy a pre-ban Bushmaster during the Clinton crime bill mess.
Got burned out, sold everything and bought more guns( my first hobby)

I have a few 10meter mobiles, thinking about buying another 2M/440 mobile someday.

I spend alot less time on the road these days, so I'm not real active.

AAR4USA here (station license), ran the eastern gateway in Atlanta (FORSCOM) for a couple years. Don't get on anymore but I think a 5K generator, a dipole and a cheap RT setup would be just the ticket for a SHTF situation.

Been hamming it up since I was 11 (that was 1968). Almost 100% of my activity is now on the satellites.

For some reason, it seems like a lot of technical types are into firearms.

N5SVD No code tech. If anyone is interested check out a program called iLink. It will let you connect to several 2M and 440 repeaters worldwide. The software is free, you must be a licensed amateur to use it.

Between the hams, gear-heads, engineering weenies and musicians, you've probably got at least 75 percent of the gun enthusiasts covered! (Of course, that's the [i]active[/i] gun enthusiasts — the larger set of all gun owners is probably a lot more diverse).

My guess is that it's a spatial acuity thing. People who are good at visualizing and manipulating physical objects tend to be more comfortable working with loud, powerful things (FALs, Fender Twin Reverbs, blown Hemis or KW linears).

Anti-gun types, on the other hand, tend to be afraid of things they don't understand (which generally includes much of the physical world). If the world parted along pro- and anti-gun lines, I doubt there'd be many mechanics or technicians to keep things running on the antis' side.

Any of you guys up for a 10M sked? I was thinking trying 1900 and 2000 EST on 28.850 MHZ.

If that fails, at 2015 we can move over and try the repeaters, you never know when you are gonna get lucky with one of them.

So who is up for it? I'll be on a Ranger 10m mobile rig, but I'll have the sensitive ears on with my R-390A listening [:)]

I've been a ham since age 12 in 1961. Amateur Extra class K7**. Recently moved and have not set up my gear at the new QTH. Love CW. Used to be a serious DXer, but got kind of bored with it all. Went from 99% interest in radio and 1% in guns to 99% guns and 1% radio. 73 Watch-Six
