That's where you pay for your own health care isn't it? All of the costs are covered by a single person or party right? You or if you have employer provided insurance then your employer.

One payer: the government.

No more need to worry about submitting to disparate insurance companies. We are here for you, comrade!

Yep, .gov 'pays' the claims from doctors and hospitals.

 

or decides which claims they will pay and which they won't. (I.e some DMV reject is going to be making health care decisions for you).  If by some miracle this all works and the .gov has a surplus of $, they will spend it on another entitlement program and we will pay more for our free insurance  when the system goes bust.

Its where the Government pays all the bills and therefore determines doctors salaries.  Medicare pays what 70% of the bills and the doctors and insurance patients pay the shortage.  When there is no private insurance to pick up the slack, doctors make less.  They will also determine profit levels for drug companies (which is why no life saving drugs come out of socialist countries).  Soon, Dr's realize that they are spending 150K on an education that pays them 50K a year and the doctor shortage gets real bad.  Hospitals close leaving massive lines for services.

Government is so good at running things.  Look at the Post Office, Medicare, etc.. models of efficiency both.  This can only be a good thing right?

But... we have to cripple the health care of the what 250M people who have insurance to pay for the 46M (which includes illegals).  Yes, when they say 46M Americans are without health insurance, what they mean is 46M people living in America.  What's the illegal immigrant number now?  12M?  That takes us down to 34M.  Now how many of those 34M CHOOSE not to pay for insurance even though they could afford it if they wanted to?

Pretty much all of them....sorry bastards.

I have NO reason to have health insurance, if I were not provided it as part of my military service - and I wouldn't have it... Prior to joining the Army, I was one of the 'Uninsured by Choice'...



I didn't go to the doctor, because I didn't need to....





Why should I pay hundreds of dollars per year for 'insurance', when my greatest 'medical' expense at this point in my life is an occasional box of Tylenol or Sudafed?

Just 'cause you're healthy today doesn't mean you won't get crushed by a dump truck tomorrow. And when you do, your massive medical bills will be eaten by the rest of us.

You're absolutely right about everything you said above, except you need to at least have some catastrophic coverage....We have high deductible/low premium coverage only.  Once, when I went to the doctor the front desk person pretended to feel sorry for me when I had the audacity to say, of all things, that we pay for routine care "as we go".  She fucking looked at me like I was from Mars.  Yeah, paying as you go, what a novel concept....

I should have narrowed my comments to those out there in that 34 million who want to bitch about healthcare, all the while choosing not to purchase coverage.  The ones that are just waiting for Obama to bail them out....so to speak.  I'm guessing there's alot of them in that 34 million, but I could be wrong.

The one 'catestrophic' situation I would be looking at (outside of the .mil) is a car crash..





High-limit medical payments coverage on my auto policy is cheaper than a medical policy of any kind....



The way I see it, the '34 million' includes a good number (at least half) who have incomes over 50k/yr and decide that they do not WANT health insurance - govt provided or otherwise...



There are only about 16mil uninsured who actually are uninsured due to financial situations...



And we're supposed to spend 1TN to cover them?

Wait until you have kids.  I am at the Drs office at least twice a month. Some months it's weekly.

It will keep 1/3 of all healthcare costs from reaching private insurance companies.  Instead, that money will be diverted to paying governmental employees to administer the same plans that private insurance one managed.

If they do away with pre-existing condition penalties, then I am all for it.  This is a major problem with our current model.

Single Payer Healthcare = Crappy treatment until you reach about 70 years old or so.  Then they let you die.
